Does our Christian faith have anything to do with our political commitments and views? For years, through its radio broadcasts, Reformed Faith and Life has pleaded in favor of such a carefully thought out involvement, following the publication of a book which my father-the late Rev. A.R. Kayayan-and I wrote together in 1995, "The Christian in the Civil Sphere." The effect of such a proclamation-that there is not a single domain of our existence which escapes the rule of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that the ultimate politics-the politics of Christ's Kingdom-should be reflected in national politics. This could not…

Have you ever known someone, and been so impressed that you wanted to be like that person? Have you ever heard or read something that you wanted others to hear and read too? Have you ever been so convinced of something that you wanted everybody else to be convinced of it as well? Or, do you think that that is too self-serving, too opinionated, and conceited as well? After all, we must be tolerant. Everyone is entitled to his or her own views and beliefs. What is right for one may not be right for another. Everyone must make up…

Everyone needs a friend. The best way to have friends is to be a genuinely friendly person. Proverbs 18:24 says, "A man who has friends must himself be friendly." But "there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Jesus is the friend who sticks closer than a brother. He laid down His very life on the cross for sinners like we are. No greater love could be shown us than this! (Jn. 15:13; 1 Jn. 2:16; 4:9; Rom. 5:8). Furthermore, His Word says that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5). Truly, as the old…

An article written to teenagers about the dangers of idolatry is just as much an article written to the parents of teenagers. This is the case for two reasons. First, parents are the primary disciplers of their children (Deut 6; Psalm 78:1-11; Eph. 6:3). Secondly, every Christian household, particularly the head of the house should, like Joshua, order his home around the worship and service of God. Joshua declared to assembled tribes of Israel: "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers…

Latitude 37°, 41', 47" N and Longitude 120°, 57', 42" W, at an elevation of 105 feet. That's what my GPS unit informs me as to where I am. In addition to that I have a street, city, state, and national address. If that is not enough, I have a phone number and an email address. All of this, just so I know where I am and people can find me. I always appreciate those freeway and shopping mall maps with the big red arrow saying, "You are Here." After all, if you don't know where you are it is…
