Dear Friends The impact of the faithful proclamation of the Gospel through the radio is sometimes quite different than what you would expect. I was recently notified that after a few months of broadcasting Reformed Faith and Life on a powerful station in the Kasai region (Democratic Republic of the Congo), the director of programming decided to suspend other supposedly Christian religious broadcasts: their content, compared to the messages of RFL, was deemed to be utterly unbiblical. It was not the fruit of my own meddling in the internal affairs of this station, which compelled them to do this, but…

As of January 21, 2010, approximately 20,000 dead bodies have been recovered from under the rubble of fallen buildings in Haiti, and officials estimate the death toll may top more than 200,000. But think for a moment about another statistic-since the earthquake hit Haiti, in America alone, more than 20,000 mothers murdered their own babies. However, these babies didn't die because of an earthquake. They died because a young girl, a teenager, an adult woman, a mother, a doctor, a boyfriend, a husband or a father together decided to commit murder, and the politicians, whom many Americans voted for, vigorously…

The prophet Isaiah spoke some of the most notable and familiar prophecies concerning the coming of the promised Messiah. For example, who hasn't heard or committed to memory the following: "Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel" (7:14). "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. . . . For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and…

"Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem..." (Luke 9:51). The day had finally come for Jesus to be received up to heaven, and knowing this He set His face to go to Jerusalem. It had been three long years of teaching and training His disciples the work of ministry. Our Lord had gone from town to town preaching the Good News of the kingdom, and calling all men everywhere to repent of their sins. He had dealt with constant rejection from…

In the sixth petition of the Lord's Prayer, the Lord teaches us to pray, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." What does this mean? When discussing temptation, it is important to point out that biblically speaking, there are two kinds of temptation. There is temptation to sin and there is temptation as in a trial or test of some kind. Let's briefly examine both kinds. First of all, there is temptation to sin. Throughout the Bible, people are known to request of God to be delivered from sin and its snare. Ps 141:4, for example,…
